current banes of my existence
Facebook...I'm really struggling with it right now! It seems to be a constant source of aggravation. Not necessarily related to me, but the things I see and read make me want to gouge my eyes out! I wish it were easier to just disconnect and be without it!

Seriously, my 2 best friends! I really don't know what I'd do without these 2. I know for certain this wedding would not be happening if it weren't for them. I am so incredibly blessed to have them both in my life!

Wedding Updates
It's been quite a while since I've blogged about the wedding, so I thought I would share a few details today! We have a date in concrete, and as of yesterday a completely new location, which I don't exactly love, but it will all work out just fine. Initially we were supposed to have the wedding at Nate's parents lake house on the balcony, over looking the lake...gorgeous..right...yea...not so much anymore. The lake house is a little over 2 hours away from home, and between scheduling conflicts with our preacher, and the struggle of trying to plan in a location that's 2 hours away we just decided to keep it a little closer to home, so I'm hoping it still turns out how I've planned. The location we've booked has an outdoor "gazebo" type building...so we will plan to have the ceremony there, and the reception in the banquet room.
- I've purchased a dress that I love, I can't wait for it to come in and me to actually be able to try it on in the correct size/color. It's a bridesmaid dress that I ordered in champagne, but it will work perfectly because I wanted something simple.
- We've decided what were going to do in place of a unity candle/sand...because we didn't really want either of those in our ceremony.
- I've purchased several pieces of decor that I think will be great with our "Country Chic" theme! Just think antique wooden crates, mason jars, galvanized buckets and lots and lots of gorgeous hydrangeas!
- I've picked a cake style I love, and decided on a menu.
- I've picked invitations, and decided on programs.
- I've decided on one favor for sure, and am debating a second

The best is yet to come...
2011 in Bullet Points
- Rang in the new year with the love of my life
- Lost a best friend of 15 years, but gained a valuable lesson.
- Met the Pioneer Woman
- Made some amazing memories with 2 of my very best friends!
- I've learned that true friends are valuable, and I am so thankful for the ones I have! So many people will come into your life just to teach you lessons and leave just as quickly as they came in, so I can gladly say...thanks for those lessons, and thanks for leaving!
- I spent a good portion of my spring on the back of a bass boat, and I loved every minute of it.
- I jokingly sent my two best friends about going to NYC for the Holidays and 4 days later 2 of us booked a trip, and had an amazing time in The Big Apple.
- I celebrated my 25th Birthday in a big way! To start it off a "Surprise" party, and ended with a weekend away and a gorgeous ring on my left hand!
- I started a new part time job at Sephora, and I never thought I would enjoy a "job" so much!
- Wedding planning and buying a house has consumed my life for the last couple of months, but it all seems to be coming together!
- Nathan and I spent the Holidays with our families. We started some new traditions that I will definitely look forward to every year!
I honestly can't wait to see what 2012 has to offer! I can't wait to marry the love of my life, and buy our first home together! I can't wait to see my friend Amber get married in March. I look forward to the memories I will make with my 2 best friends, and spending time with my amazing family.
Here's to a happy, healthy, productive 2012! I wish you all the very best!

Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree...
Hey y'all! We survived NYC...and I promise sometime in this lifetime I will upload some pictures and share some details about our trip! We really had a great time, but man did we wear ourselves out! Ha!
So for the past 2 weeks I've had this sad little 5 ft. tree (which is a crock! It might be 5 ft if it was sitting on a 2ft. box...whatev'!) sitting undecorated in our living room. I am a Christmas tree LOVER...I mean for goodness sakes I decorate them as a part time job, but this year I couldn't get into it..I couldn't make myself drag out the 7ft tree and the 14 tubs of ornaments/mesh/ribbon/topper and construct my usual masterpiece. This is last years tree, it was super fab, if I do say so myself...I had lots of help from one of my best friends Cody...
This past weekend I made myself decorate the sad little tree, I didn't go to storage and get any of my usual ornaments, I just made it work with things I had around the house, but I really love the way it turned out. I can't wait until next year. Hopefully Nate and I will be in a new house and I can have 7 trees :) But for this year this is the Hix/Hall family Christmas tree...
It officially feels like Christmas now, and I can't wait to celebrate with friends and family! Do y'all have your Christmas trees up? Do you decorate traditionally or over the top with the mesh and huge toppers? Obviously I'm not a fan of seeing tree...lol

How you and me became we...
Oh how time flies when you're having fun! Today marks 1 year since Nathan asked me to officially be his girlfriend. So many amazing things have happened in that year...including him moving closer to me...and him asking me to be his wife. I honestly don't know what I'd do without him. He is one of the most honest, kind, loving men I have ever met in my life, and I can honestly say he is my soul mate.
If you remember way back I talked about how I "met" Nathan...I send him this slightly ballsy text message...and little did I know the night I sent that message that a couple years later I'd be marrying that man! He and I spent the better part of a year as friends. We would go on dates every now and then, and we would talk most everyday, but he wasn't ready for a relationship. I dated here and there during those months, but my heart knew what I wanted...and I couldn't get my mind off of him. You know that quote..."If you want to know where your heart is, look where your mind goes when it wanders"...that was my life! I was stuck on him, and I didn't even know why. He and I are complete opposites, he is the hardcore outdoors man, and I'm the girl who doesn't miss a manicure appointment. In the past year I've spent more time on the back of a bass boat than I have anywhere, and I honestly wouldn't change a thing.

I know they say relationships take work, and nothing comes easy, but with him it's never been easier. It all seems like it is going by so fast, but when you know you know. He and I are getting married on April 21, 2012...2 years and 3 days from the first text message I sent him, that started it all...I can't wait to spend forever with him. Love ya babe!
